Farm & Freshwater Ecology Research Network (FERN)

Farm and Freshwater Ecology Research Network

The Healthy Headwaters Lab is committed to ensuring our science is rooted in the needs of the local community. To do so, we prioritize getting to know the landowners and community partners in the region, and in the context of our agricultural work we have built these connections into a Farm and Freshwater Ecology Research Network. This network encompasses all interested farmers, community members, and partner organizations working in the sustainable agriculture and freshwater ecosystem health spheres. Beginning in 2020, the Network will meet annually at the Healthy Headwaters Lab Annual Symposium (September), where Network members will be invited to learn about and comment on the ongoing and planned work of the Healthy Headwaters Lab.

We are still growing and making new connections!

If you are interested in being part of the Network, please fill out the form below or reach out to us at healthy.headwaters@uwindsor.ca

Farmer Advisory Board

The Farmer Advisory Board (FAB) assesses and advises on current and potential work being done by the Healthy Headwaters Lab and its partners on the intersection of agriculture and freshwater in Southern Ontario. The FAB is made up of 6-10 representatives of the agricultural community who have an interest in locally applicable sustainable agricultural practices. Members represent a range of farming perspectives, including the greenhouse sector and indigenous rights holders.

Current FAB Members: Henry Denotter, Chad Quinlan, Aaron Coristine, Dean Martin, Summer Garcia, and Clint Jacobs
