HHL Celebrates Black History Month
HHL is proud to be made up of a diverse group of talented individuals. It is the collection of our personal stories, lived experiences and gifts that makes our work in conservation and freshwater restoration impactful. During the month of February we celebrate our valued Black members as well as other incredible scientists whose contributions align with our values and mission. In this blog we highlight a few incredible scientists: Dr. Grite Nelson, one of two HHL members through the African Woman in Science program, Mariah Alexander, HHL's inaugural Environmental Artist, and Dr. Peter Soroye, an early career conservation practitioner at the Wildlife Conservation Society Canada and recent GLIER seminar speaker. By featuring different individuals, we honour the diverse ways of knowing and doing science, and will continue to explore themes of intersectionality and BIPOC alliance in restoration and conservation science. But first, we invite you to learn more about their contributions to our team and the global science community.
