Pride in STEM

PRIDE IS MORE THAN A MONTH.

Healthy Headwaters Lab wishes you all a happy pride! Pride honours the LGBTQ2I+ community, who has made great contributions to science and society as a whole. Whether it’s donning flags and colours in the streets, or taking a moment to support loved ones, we invite you all to celebrate with us.

In recent years, several corporations and institutes have donned the rainbow flag, with little to no change in action or values – a term since coined as pink-washing. While we won’t be donning a rainbow logo, our lab continues to stand firm in our dedication to JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) in addition to centering Indigenous rights and ways of knowing in our work, HHL is proud to host a diverse and talented team of researchers, storytellers and academics and foster so many incredible talents.

We encourage all our of members and collaborators to make small changes – like sharing your pronouns – to make science and the world a more inclusive place. Words matter, actions matter, and every tiny step towards progress is still progress.
