he/him

Ali Mokdad is a postdoctoral fellow working at the Ojibway National Urban Park - University of Windsor Hub as a member of The Healthy Headwaters Lab.

Ali has a background in behavioural ecology and conservation biology - working mostly within the Great Lakes systems. During his Ph.D., which he completed in March of 2023, he studied the effects of environmental manipulation on behavioural and neuromorphological development of captive-reared Atlantic salmon, and methods for improving reintroduction efforts via a better understanding of phenotypic plasticity. His Ph.D. work has been published in North American Journal of Fisheries Management, and Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences.

Born and raised in Windsor, Ali is excited to join the research effort at the HHL but also learn and nurture healthy and supportive relationships and community with and through the HHL.
