she/her

Michelle is the lab's macroinvertebrate taxonomy expert and reference collections manager. Her primary responsibility is quality control and the overseeing of sorting and identification of aquatic invertebrates for various projects. Michelle has over 25 years of experience in this field, and has worked with invertebrates from various habitats and geographic locations, from streams on the East Coast of Canada and Quebec, to lakes, wetlands and streams in Ontario and Manitoba, and mountain streams and reconstructed boreal lakes and wetlands in Alberta.

In addition to her work as a taxonomist and ecologist, Michelle is a fiber artist. Her colourful pieces of stitched mixed-media art are uniquely designed and hand-crafted, mostly with a nature theme, and are sold in shops across Ontario and the East Coast.
